As a leader in his field, Dr. Evan Collins' work has changed the way many hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions are approached today. Through his research findings and advanced orthopedic techniques he has greatly impacted the outcome of sports injuries and trauma wounds alike - improving the quality of life for professional athletes and workers injured in Iraq. He and his orthopedic team selected to treat the injured workers returning from Iraq gained worldwide attention and praise. Specializing in degenerative joint conditions and the small bones of the hand and wrist, Dr. Collins is in the forefront of his field. From carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow, to wrist fractures, ligament tears, arthritis and joint replacement, his approach is reducing recovery time and yielding superior long-term results. Dr. Collins is the official orthopedic specialist for the Center for Performing Arts Medicine (CPAM). And his work with professional athletes keeps them in uniform and makes it easy to understand why he and the orthopedic team at the Methodist Hospital serve as the official healthcare provider for the Houston Astros and Texans. Dr. Collins develops effective treatment plans and surgical techniques specific to each patient. His ongoing effort to find the least invasive and most effective treatment for injuries and conditions most frequently seen in his patients has resulted in studies responsible for the FDA approval of new devices and the early diagnosis and treatment of degenerative joint conditions - as well as improved implants and joint restructuring procedures. His work has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and resource guides. |
